Director, Accounting

Job Overview
This position will lead the general accounting function for SMP-UK
and its subsidiaries. Primary responsibilities include the
management and oversight of (a) the accounting close, (b) account
reconciliations, (c) financial reporting, (d) reporting packages
from subsidiaries and affiliates and to SMP, (e) the general ledger
and chart of accounts across SMP-UK, (f) providing standard reports
for financial and management reporting purposes using appropriate
governance, (g) leveraging Blackline and other technology to
promote effectiveness and efficiency in close, reconciliation, and
reporting processes and (h) ensuring compliance with IFRS and SOX
as they pertain to general accounting matters.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Oversee production of timely and accurate IFRS compliant financial
statements and quarterly DSP reporting packages in an increasingly
automated environment
Oversee Accounting Close and lead the "Close Management Team"
role
Serve as the principal Super User for multiple technologies:
Blackline
GL Wand
Oracle G/L Module
SAP G/L Module
Planful
Oversee reconciliation process, including risk assessment, account
groupings, and roles. Promote best practices in account
reconciliations; prepare and/or review account reconciliations that
fall under "general accounting"
Participate in special projects, such as adoption of new accounting
standards, corporate development activity, selection of new
technology, strategic planning for Accounting Technology
projects
Participate in leadership and management activities for the
Accounting team, including a focus on development, resource and
priority management, communications, collaboration with other
departments, and continuous improvement
Oversee Oracle G/L Module and governance for SMP-UK Group chart of
accounts
Coordinate and manage the Budget/Forecast and fx rate uploads to
Oracle/SAP
Coordinate and manage the Trial Balance uploads from SAP to
Oracle
Key Core Competencies

Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Accounting or Finance
Master's degree or CPA are a plus
Minimum 12+ years of corporate and/or public accounting
experience
Experience applying IFRS
Relevant experience in biotech or pharmaceutical industry a
plus
Prior responsibility for financial statement preparation in a
multi-national commercial business
Prior responsibility for an automated general ledger system (strong
Oracle experience preferred)
Experience using Blackline or similar task management and
reconciliation tool (Super User qualifications preferred)

The base salary range for this role is $163,400 to $204,200. Base
salary is part of our total rewards package which also includes the
opportunity for merit-based salary increases, short incentive plan
participation, eligibility for our 401(k) plan, medical, dental,
vision, life and disability insurances and leaves provided in line
with your work state. Our robust time-off policy includes unlimited
paid time off, 11 paid holidays plus additional time off for a
shut-down period during the last week of December, 80 hours of paid
sick time upon hire and each year thereafter. Total compensation,
including base salary to be offered, will depend on elements unique
to each candidate, including candidate experience, skills,
education and other factors permitted by law.

Excellent written and oral communication skills required. Requires
