Job Description Job Description Position Summary IIA Fire Department Testing , a leading company in the fire safety industry, is looking for full-time General Laborers to join our Portland, Maine team immediately as Fire Equipment Technicians . We provide an essential service testing fire equipment for fire departments at their locations. This is a general labor position with no previous experience required . All training will be done on-site. Starting hourly rate is $23.00/hour. Meals and lodging are covered by the company when traveling out of state. A $500 retention bonus will be paid after 60 days of successful employment. Work is during the months of April through November. Responsibilities Test and inspect every inch of fire hose by : Removing all hose from fire apparatus and racks Performing required recordings and tests Repacking hoses to the proper place Test & Inspect other fire equipment on fire apparatus as needed Qualifications Reliable transportation to work Be able to pass a drug test and background check Hard working and very dependable Working Conditions Work is Monday-Friday and occasionally Saturday Typical week consists of 40 hours (Average of 50 hours/week) Occasional work day can be 12 hours; Shift is not over until job is completed Daily pick-up is 7:30 am at Park and Ride in South Portland Transportation to work site via company vehicle Occasional work trip out of state required for up to 1 week (hotel and food provided by company) Steel toe work boots required and work shirts supplied by company Physical Requirements Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Frequently required to walk and bend over.
