Job Description Job Description Company Description RN Manager – Surgery (Operating Room) – Portsmouth, NH Employment Type: Full-Time Schedule: Days | No Weekends Compensation: Hourly Pay Range: $47.30 – $65.20 (based on experience) Job Description Overview An acute care hospital in Portsmouth, New Hampshire is seeking an experienced RN Manager – Surgery (Operating Room) to lead day-to-day operations within a multi-room surgical services department. This role partners closely with surgical leadership to drive patient safety, staff development, physician collaboration, and fiscal accountability in a high-performing perioperative environment. Strong OR Charge Nurses with demonstrated leadership capability will be considered. Responsibilities Oversee daily operating room operations, including staffing, scheduling, patient flow, and rounding Collaborate with clinical coordinators to support department growth, patient satisfaction, and physician relationships Supervise and direct perioperative nursing care in alignment with organizational policies and standards Support competency development and ongoing education in partnership with the department educator Assist with admission and discharge coordination for surgical patients Interview, hire, evaluate, and coach staff; complete annual performance reviews Implement corrective action and disciplinary processes when required Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, national nursing standards, and perioperative best practices Monitor patient outcomes and participate in quality improvement initiatives Assist with operating and capital budget planning for surgical services Qualifications Required: 1–3 years of RN Operating Room experience Active New Hampshire RN license Demonstrated leadership capability in a perioperative setting Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or related field Prior experience in a formal OR leadership role Considered: Strong RN Operating Room Charge Nurses ready to step into a manager role Additional Information Scope of Responsibility 11 Operating Rooms Oversight of approximately 45 FTEs Direct reports include RNs, CSTs, First Assistants, OR Techs Compensation & Benefits Competitive hourly compensation with experience-based progression Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage 401(k) retirement plan with employer match Paid time off and paid family leave Tuition assistance and professional development support Employee wellness, counseling, and financial planning resources Benefit eligibility may vary by employment status and location.
