Job Description:
Kayem is seeking to hire a Welder and Fabricator - 1st shift who
will be able to apply their skills and knowledge to generate basic
designs, when necessary, fabricate, weld, join, and assemble or
repair steel, stainless steel and other parts or assemblies in the
food manufacturing environment, including structural applications
and process piping.RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Learns and applies safety concepts and practices including lock
out / tag out, safety devices, and methods, stored energy, and line
of fire
- Familiar with and complies with welding safety requirements and
protocols by maintaining and using required PPE including a welding
helmet, gloves, welding coat, safety glasses, light screens
etc.
- Exhibits adequate knowledge in welding technology to select
proper methods and techniques to make correct sized welds to form
proper assemblies
- Interprets blueprints, drawings, sketches, and understand
verbal directions to fabricate, modify, repair, join, and restore
integrity to machine assemblies and equipment as needed to ensure
operability
- Inspects equipment for fatigue, wear, cracks, damage, and
coordinate with manufacturing team or leadership to arrange and
make repairs
- Inspects completed welds to determine structural soundness
- Exhibits necessary skills in machining steel using a vertical
mill, engine lathe, drill press, and handheld power tools
- Applies knowledge in using brakes and sheers to form steel
occasionally
- Learns how to document work with a computerized maintenance
management system (CMMS), capturing the problem, the steps taken to
resolve it, parts utilized, labor spent, and the outcome
description stating cause and the solution to the problem
- Performs all other duties as assignedREQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Minimum of 1 to 3 years of experience as a stainless-steel
welder and fabricator
- Some demonstrated experience in making mechanical repairs or
maintenance activities is desired
- Solid understanding of the requirements of food service welding
is preferred
- Understand how to read, analyze, and interpret technical
drawings and execute on verbal instructions given
- Ability to identify problems, collect data, establish facts,
and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to take independent action on issues based on these
conclusions and resolve problems in a timely manner
- Must occasionally lift and / or move up to 25 lbs.
- Have the ability to work in plant environment where the noise
level is typically loud
- Be comfortable performing the duties of the job where the
exposed to refrigerated and wet conditions Company Overview:Kayem
