3rd Class Power Plant Engineer

Job Description:

The Soldiers' Home in Chelsea is seeking an experienced candidate to serve as a 3rd Class Engineer for the Power Plant. The incumbent will operate, maintain, repair, monitor and control boilers, turbine, and auxiliary plant equipment to maintain safe, efficient and continuous plant operation.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervises the operation and maintenance of steam boilers and all auxiliary equipment.
  • Operates and maintains heating and ventilating systems.
  • Operates and maintains domestic hot water systems.
  • Operates and maintains potable water systems supply to storage tower.
  • Supervises operation of the institution's fire alarm system.
  • Supervises the operation of refrigeration systems.
  • Performs related duties, such as, maintaining cleanliness and appearance of Power Plant and all areas of responsibility, proper delivery of fuels, and attends training programs as required.

    Qualifications:

    Minimum Entrance Requirements:

    Possession of a Third Class or higher Stationary Engineers license based on standards established by the Massachusetts Department of Public Safety and pursuant to Chapter 146 of the Massachusetts General Laws.
